Jamshedpur, May 28: Chaos ensued in Bajpai Nagar, adjacent to the Chakulia block office of East Singhbhum district, as a wild elephant entered the area around 11 pm last night. Throughout the night, the elephant roamed around, creating panic among the residents who remained confined to their homes. The situation escalated when the elephant broke the wire mesh fencing of Kedarnath Jhunjhunwala High School at multiple locations.

The elephant remained within the premises of Kedarnath Jhunjhunwala High School for an extended period, causing disruption and concern. Reports suggest that the elephant entered the school campus from the nearby forest via Naganal Colony and successfully breached the school’s security perimeter before reaching Bajpai Nagar. The presence of the elephant kept the residents on edge throughout the night.

The elephant also caused damage to Dudhnath Singh’s garden after gaining access to it. Upon receiving the information, the quick response team from the forest department swiftly arrived at the scene and began efforts to drive away the elephant. The team utilized torches to chase away the wild elephant from the area. It is worth noting that in the past, an elephant had attempted to break the shutter of the SFC godown located near the Nagar Panchayat office. This incident highlights the growing concern of wild elephants encroaching upon even the market area, posing risks to the safety and security of the local population.
